Greening Your Church
Our carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide. It is a measure of the relative impact of our lifestyle on the world's resources. If we shrink our footprint we will contribute to slowing down and then reducing global climate change.
Churches can play an important role in setting a moral standard for self-control in a consumerist environment. Christian writers and saints through the ages have provided inspiration to a life based on values of simplicity. Our love of God's creation reminds us of our duty to exercise stewardship over the gifts we have received.
